Hologram Zoo is a one-of-a-kind immersive experience in Austin, Texas, located inside Zoocade. This family-friendly indoor attraction uses laser-powered hologram technology and 3D glasses to bring incredible worlds to life around you.
Step inside high-tech hologram tunnels where animals, dinosaurs, and other larger-than-life scenes appear to move off the walls and into the air around you. Travel from the Arctic to Africa — or journey back in time for a thrilling dinosaur experience in Austin.
Each Hologram Zoo show lasts approximately 30 minutes and ends with a small holographic-style keepsake to take home.

What is a Hologram Zoo?

Looking for a fun, different & unique indoor experience in Austin, TX? Our hologram zoo is just like a normal zoo except all the animals are hologram projections made out of laser light that you can see using 3D glasses. Adventure in these new hi tech hologram tunnels where the animals come off the walls and fly around in the air with you. There are different shows where you go to different countries like Africa, the North Pole, to see Santa and Asia, and you can go back in time and visit the Dinosaurs. Each show goes for around 30 minutes. At the end, you'll get a small cardboard holographic-style gift to take home with you.
Hologram Zoo FAQs
The Hologram Zoo is a timed, scheduled experience — we recommend booking in advance, especially on weekends and during summer. Walk-ins are welcome but availability is not guaranteed. Book online through our reservations page to secure your preferred time slot.
Each show has approximately 30 minutes of content. After the experience, there’s a group photo opportunity and free keepsake (about 10–15 minutes). Plan for 45 minutes total for a single zoo visit, or up to 2–3 hours if you add Hologram Rooms, Verse Immersive, or time in the arcade.

There is no violence, no animals dying, and nothing gory. However, holographic animals do appear suddenly and move toward you, which can be surprising. Most children find it exciting rather than frightening, but very young or sensitive children may be startled. If your child is easily scared by sudden surprises, let our staff know and we’ll help prepare them.
The Hologram Zoo is designed to delight guests of all ages, but adults visiting without kids tend to get the most out of our other experiences. We’d recommend checking out Verse Immersive — our augmented reality theater — or heading next door to VieVR for one of their guided 40+ minute expeditions to ancient Egypt or prehistoric Earth. Both are immersive, sophisticated experiences that consistently wow adult guests. The Hologram Zoo is still worth a peek, but if you’re an adult looking for the full wow factor, Verse and VieVR are where we’d point you first.
No — the Hologram Zoo is not virtual reality and does not use a VR headset. You wear 3D glasses (similar to movie theater glasses) that allow you to see the holographic animals. Because you’re not wearing a headset and can see your real surroundings, there is no motion sickness. The experience is fully accessible and comfortable for guests of all ages.
